The Real IRA is being blamed for a number of security alerts in Derry.

The Real IRA is being blamed for a number of security alerts in Derry.

A number of areas have been closed off in the city including the Strand Road police station, the Craigavon Bridge area and around the courthouse on Bishop Street.

A number of court proceedings have been transfered as a result.

Part of the Belfast to Dublin rail line has also been closed because of a security alert.

A bus service is in place between Dundalk and Newry.

Mayor of Derry, Sinn Féin's Paul Fleming, said it was not yet clear whether the objects were viable explosives.
