Number of serious injuries after Kildare road collision

There are reports of a very serious road collision in Co. Kildare.

A number of people are understood to be seriously hurt after the collision which eyewitnesses say involved up to four vehicles on the Athy to Ballitore Road at around 2.30pm.

Paramedics and gardai are at the scene on a new stretch of road between Athy and the M7 intersection.

The road has been closed and diversions are in place.
