Man questioned over fatal stabbing

Detectives were tonight continuing to question man over the fatal stabbing of a 47-year-old woman.

Ann Henry was found on the roadway outside a house at The Spinney in Roscommon Town yesterday with multiple stab wounds.

A man in his 20s was arrested at the scene.

He is being held at Roscommon Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The death, believed to be a domestic incident, is thought to have happened at about 2.30pm.

Investigating officers are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

The woman’s body was taken to Ballinasloe Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
