Man hospitalised after Kerry beach crash

A man is being airlifted to hospital with serious injuries this afternoon after a quad bike crash on a beach in north Kerry.

The Shannon coastguard helicopter arrived at the scene of the crash at Beal Strand near Ballylongford shortly after 3pm.

The victim is being brought to Cork University Hospital.

Meanwhile an extensive air and coastal search is continuing in west Cork for a man who fell into the water in Baltimore this morning.

It is thought he is a tourist who had been taking photos with a friend near the Kedge Rocks.

Both men fell into the sea, but one managed to swim to safety and raise the alarm.
