Investigations continue after Tullamore death

A Garda investigation is continuing this morning into the death of an 11-year old girl in County Offaly over the weekend.

The little girl - who has been named locally as Emily Barut - was found dead at her home in Tullamore at around 9pm on Saturday night.

Her 55-year old mother was found unconscious in the house by emergency service and remains in a stable condition in the Midlands Regional Hospital.

The results of a post-mortem on the girl's body were inconclusive.

Gardaí say they are not looking for anyone else in connection with her death, and are awaiting the results of toxicology tests to continue their investigation.
