Workers staging a sit-in at the Vita Cortex plant in County Cork received another boost when they were visited by soccer star Paul McGrath this evening.
He is the latest in a number of public figures to publicly back their cause.
Earlier this week Manchester United Manager Alex Ferguson and folk singer Christy Moore also pledged their support.
The 32 workers at the foam-manufacturing plant in Cork have been staging a sit in protest for over two months now in an effort to secure 2.9 weeks in redundancy pay for each year of service, which they are owed by the company.
McGrath said the whole country should support the workers and that he empathises with their current struggles.
"To see people being treated the way they are…I think it's just not on. I thought Ireland was a better place than this," he said.
