Group rescued off Cork coast

A group of up to five people have been rescued by the Ballycotton RNLI lifeboat off the east coast of Cork this afternoon.

Shortly after 3pm today, a recreational craft experienced mechanical difficulties five miles off Capel Island, and requested assistance from the lifeboat.

The rescue operation is currently underway and the vessel is being towed to Ballycotton.

A spokesperson for the RNLI has said progress is slow, but that the lifeboat is due back on shore shortly.Home
