Four in court after seizure of 50,000 contraband cigarettes

Four people have appeared in court after customs officers at Dublin airport seized more than 50,000 contraband cigarettes.

A Polish woman and three Polish men who arrived on a flight from London yesterday, were arrested after the cigarettes were found in their luggage.

The cigarettes are understood to be worth more than €22,000.They appeared before Dublin District Court this morning and were remanded in custody for a week.

The cigarette seizure represented a potential loss to the Exchequer of more than 20,000 euro.Home
