Torrential flooding is expected along the River Shannon in the west of Ireland.
Property and landowners from south of Killaloe/Ballina to Limerick City, particularly in flood prone areas, are being advised to exercise increased caution by local councils.
Clare County Council, Limerick City Council, Limerick County Council and North Tipperary County Council as well as the emergency services are monitoring the situation.
A spokesman for the group of councils said: “In the meantime, the inter agency group has issued a safety warning advising parents to be particularly vigilant with children and members of the public to avoid contact with flood waters.
“People are also being asked to keep an eye on any elderly or infirm neighbours.”
The Environment Minister John Gormley has visited parts of the south and west to view the flood damage caused over the last few days.
He is due to report back to the Emergency Task Force this afternoon.
Water levels are receeding in Ennis and Clonmel but remain very high in the Galway towns of Ballinasloe and Gort.
Almost all minor roads in the south and east of the country are flooded and Gardaí say extreme care is needed by motorists.
