Donohoe: Time to replace Croke Park Agreement

The Croke Park Agreement is back in the spotlight with a Fine Gael TD calling for its replacement.

Paschal Donohoe says cuts need to be made across the board in a bid to share the cost and burden, throughout the public sector, of getting Ireland's economy back on track.

Speaking today in relation to the issue surrounding the government's decision earlier this week to cut just one of the 800-allowances paid to existing public servants, the Dublin Central TD said the entire system of allowances needs to be revisited.

He says the Croke Park agreement must urgently deliver every possible saving it can: "I believe there should be a replacement to Croke Park.

"The core objective of any new arrangement will have to be to equally share the burden of cost and change which is so terrible for people across all members of the public service."Home
