Rumours of my death greatly exaggerated, says Pellow

The remaining fans of Wet Wet Wet are breathing a sigh of relief after frontman Marti Pellow announced he was alive and well - despite reports on the internet claiming he died earlier this month.

Hoaxsters had tampered with the online encyclopaedia Wikipedia and prematurely reported the Scottish heartthrob had died.

Stunned fan Sophie Cornwall said: "I couldn't believe my eyes when I read that he was dead - I was absolutely shell-shocked."

The singer's spokesperson confirmed Pellow was "definitely still alive"

A spokesperson for Wikipedia apologised for the distress caused to Pellow, adding: "Occasionally pranksters change details on the site."
