Yachtsman rescued by helicopter

An English yachtsman who was trying to sail around England and Ireland has been rescued off the Donegal coast.

The alarm was raised when stormy weather caused his yacht to overturn 50 miles out to sea at about 11pm last night.

A lifeboat from the Malin Head coastguard and the Sligo rescue helicopter took part in the search for the unfortunate sailor, who was slightly injured but in a good condition, and is now being towed to Tory island.
