Cork County Council worker dies following workplace accident

A Cork County Council worker has died after an accident earlier today.

The married man - in his mid-forties - was involved in road works between Douglas and Carrigaline, when the incident happened shortly before 2pm this afternoon.

He suffered head injuries and was taken to Cork University Hospital, but lost his fight for life.

Cork County Council has said that it will launch an investigation into the matter - as have Gardai and the Health and Safety Authority.
