Long-time Elvis aide Joe Esposito dies

Elvis Presley’s close personal friend and professional aide Joe Esposito has died at 78.

His daughter Cindy Bahr said Joe, who had dementia, died on November 23 of natural causes in Calabasas, California.

Joe met Elvis in 1959 while both were serving in the US Army. After they completed their service, Joe became Elvis’s assistant in professional matters, from keeping his calendar to functioning as road manager when the King was on tour.

He was one of two best men at Elvis’s 1967 wedding to Priscilla Wagner and a pallbearer at his funeral in 1977.

After Elvis’s death, Joe worked as a road manager for the Bee Gees, Michael Jackson and other artists.

Tributes flooded on to social media following news of his death, including a heartfelt message from Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry.
