Geldof announces more Live 8 concerts

Three more Live 8 gigs are set to take place. Bob Geldof announced today that the new concerts would take place in Tokyo, Toronto and Johannesburg.

Former Ultravox frontman Midge Ure and musician Peter Gabriel also announced details of an African-only concert to be held at the Eden Project in Cornwall.

'Africa Calling' will take place on July 2, at the same time as the main concert in Hyde Park. It will be hosted by Gabriel and Senegalese star Youssou N'Dour and will feature only African artists.

The bill includes Maryam Mursal, Salif Keita and Thomas Mapfumo. Blur frontman Damon Albarn had criticised the Hyde Park line-up for omitting African artists. It features Madonna, Paul McCartney and Robbie Williams.

Geldof said there would be no concert in Dublin because it wouldn't directly affect the leaders of the G8.
