Pairs are tasked with completing an obstacle course, while the woman is carried by the man, in the fastest time.

The somewhat unusual sport is especially popular in Nordic countries and the small town of Sonkajärvi in Finland has played host for the world championships since 1992.

This year Russian couple Dimitriy Sagal and Anastasia Loginova came out on top.

The winning couple taking home the coveted prize; the weight of the winning wife in beer.
