Survey shows support for euro among business leaders

Irish and eurozone business leaders are extremely supportive of the survival of the euro, according to a new international business survey.

The Grant Thornton study showed that 91% of Irish business owners think Ireland should stay in the euro.

This is despite the turbulent economic times across the EU.

The research also revealed that 41% of business leaders think the euro will only survive if it does not admit any more new members.

Some 28% of respondents think it will only survive if some countries leave.

The survey also found that 82% of Greek businesses think membership of the euro has had a positive or very positive impact on their business.
