Diageo sees UK sales fall behind Europe

Drinks giant Diageo has said sales in the UK are falling behind the rest of Europe.

In the second half of last year, Smirnoff and Baileys remained popular but overall sales dropped in the UK because of a decision to hold firm on prices and cut the number of promotions.

The company saw a 12% rise in pre-tax profits to £1.8bn.
