Aer Lingus to switch to Belfast's City Airport

Aer Lingus is set to switch its operations from Belfast International Airport to George Best Belfast City Airport.

The national carrier flies to Heathrow and seven European destinations from Belfast International Airport.

Flights could be moved to Belfast City within weeks and a formal announcement could be made next week.

It follows the end of BMI Baby services from the City Airport, which carried 400,000 passengers a year.

The change would make George Best airport the city’s only Heathrow connection.

With the takeover of BMI by British Airways there had been worries over the future of that route.
BA has confirmed its commitment to the service.

Aer Lingus operates flights to Alicante, Barcelona, Faro, Lanzarote, Las Palmas, Heathrow, Malaga and Tenerife.Home
