Fritzl kept in jail by judge
6/6/2008 - 1:21:29 PMThe Austrian man accused of fathering seven children with the daughter he held captive for 24 years must remain in custody, a judge ruled today.
The decision extends Josef Fritzl’s pre-trial detention by two months. It was made during a routine closed-door session required under Austrian law.
The 73-year-old Fritzl was formally held on April 29. He is expected to be charged once investigations are completed.
Fritzl confessed to locking up his daughter Elisabeth and repeatedly raping her.
Three of the children she bore him were raised in a cellar at his home in Amstetten, while three others were brought up above ground, and one died in infancy.
