Soldier killed in Afghanistan
30/07/2008 - 07:20:25

A soldier has died in Afghanistan after an attack by insurgents on a convoy, Nato said today.

The military alliance said in a statement that the attack happened in the southern Helmand Province yesterday. It did not release soldier’s nationality.

More than 2,700 people – mostly militants – have died in insurgency-related violence this year in Afghanistan.

Attacks have risen by 50% so far this year compared to 2007.
