Bush confident of overseeing Palestinian deal

US President George Bush said today he remains confident that both sides in the Mideast peace process can agree on the definition of a Palestinian state by the end of his term next January.US President George Bush said today he remains confident that both sides in the Mideast peace process can agree on the definition of a Palestinian state by the end of his term next January.

President Bush said he assured Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas that a Palestinian state is a high priority for himself and his administration.

He added that he is confident a definition of a Palestinian state can be reached.

The session at the White House today came as Palestinians and Israelis have made only slow progress towards a peace deal.
