A massive car bomb killed at least 30 people and wounded dozens of others in the Iraqi city of Baqouba today.
Police said the car was parked near a restaurant across the street from a court and provincial government offices in the city centre.
It exploded just before noon, when the area was crowded with people visiting government offices and eating lunch at the restaurant.
Police said the death toll could rise and that more than 40 people were also wounded in the blast.
Later a second car bomb killed at least 14 people in the former insurgent stronghold of Ramadi.
Police said the attack there was also outside restaurant to the west of the city centre.
Ramadi is the capital of Anbar province. The area has seen a sharp decline in violence in recent months as tribal leaders have joined forces with the Americans against al-Qaida.
