Bush appeals for more troops in Afghanistan
02/04/2008 - 07:47:26

US President George Bush has called for Nato members to step up troop contributions in Afghanistan, highlighting Osama bin Laden’s latest threats to Europe.

Mr Bush said that if the alliance did not stay on the offensive in Afghanistan, Taliban and al-Qaida extremists would use the country to launch more attacks on the West like those on September 11, 2001.

His call came this morning, in a speech in which he also called on Nato to begin admission procedures for Ukraine and Georgia.
