Israel must probe 'reckless' death of camerman
19/04/2008 - 20:52:37

A human rights group said Israel must investigate the death of a Reuters TV cameraman and three others in an Israeli army strike.

The New York-based group Human Rights Watch said in a statement today that its own investigation suggests that an Israeli tank crew fired either recklessly or deliberately at cameraman Fadel Shana and three others standing near him.

The Israeli human rights group B’Tselem said earlier this week it has collected evidence that Mr Shana was killed by an Israeli tank shell spewing tiny darts over a wide radius.

Human Rights Watch said witnesses told its investigators there was no fighting at the time Mr Shana was killed on Wednesday.

Reuters has released Mr Shana’s final video, showing a tank on a distant hilltop open fire.
