Gaza girl 'decapitated by Israeli tank shell'
11/06/2008 - 08:00:51

A six-year-old girl was decapitated by Israeli tank fire in Gaza, Palestinians said today.

Doctors said the girl’s head had been severed by a tank shell. Another two people were being treated for injuries sustained in the shelling, Dr Moaiya Hassanain, a Palestinian Health Ministry official, said.

The Israeli military said it had opened fire early today on militants launching rockets into Israel.

Gaza militants fire rockets and mortars into Israel almost daily.

The incident occurred near the border where militants fired 30 rockets into Israel yesterday, the military said.
