FG call on Irish to be evacuated from Lebanon

Fine Gael says there could be up to 100 Irish people stuck in Lebanon as violence rages.

The country is in the midst of the worst sectarian violence since the end of the civil war in 1990.

The airport in Beirut is closed and Hezbollah militants are in control of the west of the capital.

Fine Gael's Foreign Affairs spokesman Billy Timmins says the new Foreign Affairs Minister must act immediately and evacuate the Irish out of Lebanon.
