US calls for Mugabe sanctions
02/07/2008 - 16:35:02

The US has called for sanctions against Robert Mugabe's regime in Zimbabwe and demanded that his government immediately begin talks with the opposition to peacefully resolve the country's political crisis.

The draft resolution would freeze the financial assets of Mr Mugabe and 11 other Zimbabwean officials and, if adopted, would ban them from travelling by the UN Security Council.
