Iraq: Female suicide bomber kills at least 10
22/06/2008 - 12:18:57

Iraqi police said a female suicide bomber blew herself up in front of a government compound north-east of Baghdad, killing at least 10 people and wounding 35.

Today’s attack is the latest in a series of bombings by women. The US military has warned women are being recruited heavily by al-Qaida in Iraq because they can more easily avoid stepped up security measures.

An official in the police headquarters said the woman detonated her explosives on the street outside the Diyala provincial governor’s office and other official buildings in Baqouba.
