Ten civilians killed in suicide bomb attack
20/06/2008 - 08:12:52

Police say a suicide bomber has killed 10 civilians in southern Afghanistan.

Mohammad Hussein Andiwal, the police chief of Helmand province, said the attacker detonated his explosives this morning as a convoy of foreign troops was passing through the town of Gereshk.

Mr Andiwal said 10 civilians died, including two shopkeepers. He said he had no information about whether any of the troops were hurt.

A spokesman for NATO forces in Afghanistan had no information about the incident.
