The 23-year-old Switzerland international joined Arsenal from Servette in 2003 and became a regular member of Arsene Wenger’s back four.

His former Arsenal colleague Mathieu Flamini moved to the San Siro at the start of the summer.

Reports in Italy state that Arsenal and Milan have agreed a deal which will see Senderos move initially on a one-season loan, with the Serie A giants then having an option to make the transfer permanent.
