Injured duo out for Westmeath
25/04/2008 - 00:51:11

Westmeath manager Tomas OWestmeath manager Tomas O'Flatharta has been forced to plan without the influential Dessie Dolan and David Duffy for tomorrow's NFL Division 2 decider against Dublin in Navan.

Midfielder Duffy and half-forward Dolan have both failed in their race for fitness and have been replaced for the final by Martin Flanagan and John Smyth.

Flanagan, who came on as a substitute for the injured Duffy during the first half of last Sunday's win over Monaghan, is himself returning from injury.

Flanagan developed a cyst behind his knee following his side's comfortable 11-point win over Roscommon in Round 4.

The Tyrrellspass clubman will slot in beside former defender Donal O'Donoghue at midfield this weekend.

Meanwhile, Dolan pulled up in the first half of last Sunday's win, having aggravated an old hamstring injury.

However, the talented Westmeath captain, who has been dogged with injuries during the league campaign, is expected to return for Westmeath's Leinster championship opener against Longford on May 11.

WESTMEATH (NFL v Dublin): G Connaughton; F Boyle, K Gavin, J Keane; M Ennis, D Heavin, D Healy; M Flanagan, D O'Donoghue; F Wilson, J Smyth, D Harte; A Mangan, Denis Glennon, D Bannon.
