28/03/2008 - 22:40:12

Derry City 2 Drogheda United 0

An own goal and a penalty within two minutes earned Derry a big win over champions Drogheda to delight the Brandywell faithful.

Joe Kendrick turned Owen Morrison's low cross into his own net to give Derry the lead on 51 minutes.

Mark Farren was then hauled down by Graham Gartland three minutes later and dusted himself down to fire home the penalty to double Derry's lead.

Drogheda finished with ten men when Senegalese striker Abrihima Thiam was sent off for dissent after being booked for a foul on Peter Hutton minute later.
