Cowen questioned in US about Lisbon 'No'

The Taoiseach Brian Cowen says questions have been asked on his US trip about what IrelandThe Taoiseach Brian Cowen says questions have been asked on his US trip about what Ireland's 'No' vote in the Lisbon Treaty referendum will mean for business.

Mr Cowen is on the last day of his official visit to the country today.

Last night, he met the editorial board of the Wall Street Journal, which asked about Lisbon and Ireland's position within the EU.

Mr Cowen says US businesses are curious about the ramifications of the vote because they base themselves in Ireland to gain access to the eurozone via an English-speaking country.

He says he has given assurances that the 'No' vote last month won't affect business.
