Harney unhappy with threat of strike action by nurses

Minister for Health Mary Harney has expressed disappointment today following a threat of industrial action by psychiatric nurses in a row over compensation.Minister for Health Mary Harney has expressed disappointment today following a threat of industrial action by psychiatric nurses in a row over compensation.

SIPTU members have voted in favour of taking action in two weeks after rejecting an "inadequate" compensation package.

The union says the package would see nurses getting less money than if they pursued their claim through the Personal Injuries Assessment Board.

Ms Harney, however, insisted today that it was the best deal on offer.
