Ahern to face Dáil questions over tribunal evidence 02/04/2008 - 07:27:43
The Taoiseach is set to face opposition questions in the Dáil today over the latest contradictions in his evidence to the Mahon Tribunal.
Bertie Ahern has not commented since a former secretary at his constituency office admitted that she lodged Sterling to Irish Permanent bank accounts on his behalf.
Mr Ahern has told the tribunal that the lodgements were the proceeds of his pay cheques.
The leaders of the Green Party and the PDs have both called on him to dispel public disquiet about the revelations.
However, it looks unlikely that he will provide any clarification when confronted on the matter during Leaders' Questions in the Dáil today.
Several of his Mr Ahern's cabinet colleagues have come out in his support in the past week or so, suggesting he is not facing any immediate revolt from within his own party.
