Study highlights lack of married women in senior jobs
28/03/2008 - 13:50:08

A new study has highlighted the lack of married women and women with children in senior management jobs.

Research presented at a 'Women and Ambition' conference in Trinity College today shows that 67% of men in senior management jobs are married, compared with 12% of women who hold such positions.

Of those in senior management, more than five times more men have children than women.

The conference organisers say ambitious women are perceived negatively and a "positive discourse" is needed to tackle the stereotype.
