Galway to host diseases conference
28/03/2008 - 07:09:40

Scientists gather in Galway today for an international conference on potentially fatal diseases.

The event at NUI Galway, which opened yesterday, will feature the latest scientific findings on infectious pathogens.

The conference has attracted dozens of researchers from Canada, France, the US and the UK as well as experts from Irish universities and institutions.

The event is funded by the Society for General Microbiology, which is the largest microbiology society in Ireland and the UK.

Organisers said the latest developments in research will be discussed and new collaborations will be forged.

The event is also an opportunity for researchers at NUI Galway to showcase their research programmes on infectious diseases.
