Ireland has reportedly been ranked as the eighth best nation in the world in terms of women's political empowerment by the World Economic Forum.
Reports this morning say Ireland has been given the ranking despite performing poorly in two of the three categories used to draw up the list.
Ireland is ranked 74th in terms of women's representation in parliament and 28th for the number of women in Government.
However, the rating was rescued by the fact that we came second in the world for female heads of state.
