Coughlan denies Govt attempt to bury Morris report

The new Tánaiste, Mary Coughlan, has defended the decision to publish the latest report from the Morris Tribunal yesterday.The new Tánaiste, Mary Coughlan, has defended the decision to publish the latest report from the Morris Tribunal yesterday.

The opposition has accused the Government of trying to bury the report by publishing it on the same day as Brian Cowen was elevated to the role of Taoiseach.

However, Ms Coughlan rejected the claim in the Dáil this morning, saying the report had to be published yesterday to comply with a statutory timeframe and to allow the Garda Commissioner to prepare a response.
