09/05/2008 - 15:23:51

Gardaí in Limerick have made 12 applications to Limerick District Court this afternoon following a series of raids around the city yesterday.

Officers said the amount of cash seized in raids as part of Operation Platinum is now valued at €250,000.

€230,000 was discovered in euro notes, with the remainder in sterling.

The applications were made in court this afternoon under Criminal Justice and Proceeds of Crime legislation to retain the cash.
