Injured fisherman airlifted from vessel off Cork coast

A fisherman has been airlifted to hospital after getting injured on board a vessel around 30 miles off the Cork coast.

The man, who is believed to be in his 30s and from Castletownbere, is understood to have suffered head injuries after being hit by a rope while fishing near Fastnet Rock.

A rescue hospital was despatched from Shannon after the alarm was raised shortly before 6am.
