Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern has admitted that some money lodged to his bank account in 1994 was sterling.
Mr Ahern has previously said that the lodgements at the Irish Permanent in the Drumcondra area of Dublin were the proceeds of his pay cheques.
Today, however, he was presented with a letter from the bank showing that several of the lodgements seem to be the proceeds of sterling exchange transactions.
Earlier this year, Mr Ahern's former constituency secretary, who made the lodgements on his behalf, was forced to admit that sterling transactions were involved.
Her ordeal in the witness box led to widespread criticism of the former Taoiseach and was one of the controversies that contributed to his resignation.
