Ahern due back before Mahon Tribunal today
04/06/2008 - 07:37:14

Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern is due back in the witness box at the Mahon Tribunal today to face further questions about his financial dealings in the 1990s.

Mr Ahern is expected to be quizzed again about sums of money that passed through his personal bank accounts and accounts associated with his constituency office.

Since his last appearance, the tribunal has heard that Mr Ahern's former secretary Grainne Carruth lodged sterling on his behalf to an account in the Irish Permanent.

The former Taoiseach has told the tribunal the money in the account was the proceeds of his pay cheques.
