Police said the couple, detained on Friday evening and questioned over the weekend, were freed pending further inquiries.

Four men arrested in Co Tyrone last Thursday morning remain in custody, said a police spokesman.

The young Catholic officer, who has served in the PSNI for three years, suffered serious leg injuries when a booby-trap bomb exploded under his car as he drove through the village of Spamount on his way to start night duty in Enniskillen last Monday.

The attack has been blamed on dissident republicans.
