Cowen supporters descend on Dublin hotel

Outgoing Taoiseach Bertie Aherne nominates Brian Cowen for Taoiseach, which was seconded by John Gormley of the Green Party, Minister for the EnviournmentHundreds of Fianna Fáil supporters from the Midlands have descended on Dublin today to show their support for new Taoiseach Brian Cowen.

Mr Cowen is set to be elected to the position in the Dáil this afternoon.

His supporters have already decorated a Dublin city centre hotel with the Offaly colours and large screens have been set up so they can watch the proceedings in Leinster House.
