The truth hurts in Redacted film
28/03/2008 - 15:38:58

Redacted

Director: Brian De Palma

Cast: Ty Jones, Patrick Carroll, Rob Devaney

The truth hurts, even if only portrayed in a film and may not be quite what happened … the message is still clear: war is hell!

De Palma’s stark drama, made as a semi-doc, tells the story of the rape and murder of a 14-year-old girl by American soldiers in Iraq. And Americans are rather miffed that their heroes should be depicted as less than heroic.

Yet De Palma delivers more than a could-have-happened film, he looks with depth at a war that started badly and fell away and it’s a film worth seeing and debating.

Star Rating: 4/5
