'Lions for Lambs' confuses with too many plots
18/04/2008 - 20:02:33

'Lions for Lambs' (Fox; €24.99) is a dull, haphazard film directed by Robert Redford and starring Meryl Streep and Tom Cruise.

This triple tale set in Afghanistan can’t quite decide what it is and ends up a confused polemic which just leaves the audience baffled. Cruise plays Republican Senator Jasper Irving, who is interviewed by reporter Janine Roth (Streep).

In the second plot layer, two soldiers plan to affect Irving’s strategy, while in the last section a student and professor discuss the political and military consequences.

It’s every bit as uninspiring as it sounds. Despite the presence of some featurettes and a making of feature, plus an audio commentary by Redford, this is best avoided.
