Smith shines in 'I Am Legend'

 Will Smith is back to his blockbuster best in 'I Am Legend' (Warner; €24.99), an eerie science fiction film in which he plays Robert Neville, an army virologist who finds himself apparently the only survivor following a man-made virus outbreak which has killed most people except for the Infected — mutant, bloodthirsty monsters who are afraid of light.
As Neville chases a cure to save the human race, the Infected close in.
Director Francis Lawrence delivers an excellent first half, but the final action flags a bit, leaving you wondering about what might have been.
Extras include an alternate ending plus 90 minutes of special features. You can also download a digital copy of the film onto your PC. It won’t change the film… but you can’t have everything. Also available on Blu-ray.
