Romance has too many shortcomings 09/05/2008 - 19:54:13
Just as Bertie Ahern bows out as Taoiseach, daughter Cecelia’s ‘PS I Love You’ (Momentum, €24.99) arrives on DVD.
This film adaptation of her first novel is no great tearjerker, nor a great romance, but proved a modest success at the box office.
Hilary Swank is the beautiful Holly, whose idyllic marriage to Gerry (Gerard Butler, with a ridiculous Irish accent) is shattered when he dies.
A series of letters from the dead Gerry begin to arrive to guide and help her to come to terms with life.
Unfortunately, the plot comes with far too many shortcomings to paper over the cracks.
Extras include music video, a chat with Cecelia and additional scenes.
